Challenges in the AI era

Why do we need new leadership now?

Human leadership that cannot be replaced by AI.
AI technology is evolving at an astonishing pace, threatening to fundamentally change the way we work and the way society functions. While AI increasingly surpasses humans in efficiency and analytical capabilities, we are faced with new questions.

As technology advances, humanity is put to the test.

AI ethics, the use of technology based on human-centered values, and a healthy organizational culture that can adapt to change are all unavoidable challenges for surviving the AI era. To create a future that cannot be derived solely from data and algorithms, now is the time to demand leadership based on the uniquely human intelligence of deep insight, empathy, ethics, and a sense of purpose.

Where does AILIA Academy stand?

About AILIA Academy

Opening up the future with inner awareness

AILIA* Academy is an educational program that cultivates leaders for the AI era who will quietly but surely lead the future.
We believe that truly valuable leadership in the age of AI requires more than just acquiring skills and knowledge. In this era of rapid change, it is essential to look deeply within ourselves and find an unwavering foundation.
*AILIA = AI × Leadership × Inner Awareness

Zen wisdom illuminating the AI era

Authentic Insight

 Less smarts, More heart

At the Academy , we utilize the wisdom of Zen and mindfulness to foster " authentic insight " - the ability to see the true essence of things without being misled by superficial information - and " heart " - not just logic and thought, but also empathy and compassion. We integrate the depth that only humans have into leadership, something that AI lacks.

This piece of calligraphy in English was written by Reverend Hōyō, a monk at Plum Village, a Zen temple that originated in France, and was given to us in the course of our Zen-related activities. The words " Authentic Insight " contained in this calligraphy are a deep and essential question for us living in this era.

Leadership Goal Case: From Inner Search to Society

What is the goal of leadership in the AI era?
This can be seen in the practice of AILIA 's insight navigator, Koji Miki (CEO of enmono ). His support for innovation at zenschool , born from his own experiences, his leadership of Zen2.0 , which connects with the world, and his visionary " Mindful City Kamakura " concept are concrete examples of the leadership cultivated by AILIA, which begins with inner exploration (ikigai), resonates with technology, fosters community, and quietly leads to a better society.

AILIA Academy

Why is enmono Miki involved with AILIA Academy?

Koji Miki is the insight navigator for AILIA Academy .

Why did he, who leads enmono/zenschool , a company that supports innovation in small and medium-sized enterprises,

Are you passionate about developing leadership in the age of AI?

It is deeply rooted in his own original experience.

The setback of being laid off and his encounter with zazen, which helped him overcome it.

This experience has taught me that true change begins with inner awareness, not outer.

I became convinced of this.

Based on this realization, zenschool has been supporting " True Innovation " by drawing out the inner "purpose" and passion of business managers and making it the core of their business. And now, in an age where AI is about to dramatically change society,

We believe that leadership based not only on efficiency and productivity, but also on the insight, empathy and ethics inherent to human beings, will become more important than ever.

AILIA Academy is a learning environment that deepens the knowledge of "inner exploration" and "practice" that Miki cultivated at zenschool , tailored to the context of the AI era. While understanding the evolution of technology, they will not be swayed by it, but will carve out the future by following their own "inner compass." This is the kind of next-generation leaders Miki wants to produce here in Kamakura. This is the aspiration he has for AILIA Academy . His journey itself embodies AILIA Academy 's goal of "harmony between technology and humanity."

Four core modules that drive transformation

AILIA Academy4つのコアモジュール.png

Module 1: Exploring Self-Understanding and Ikigai - Gaining a Compass in the AI Era

As a foundation for surviving in this rapidly changing era, we begin with a deep self-reflection. Drawing on mindfulness and Zen wisdom, we develop inner insight and explore our own values, strengths, and " ikigai " (purpose in life and work). We establish a solid foundation for leveraging the powerful tool known as AI in line with our own purpose.

Module 2: Empathy and Communication in the Age of AI: Connecting Technology and People's Hearts

This course will reaffirm the importance of empathy, a uniquely human skill, in a society and organization where AI is pervasive. While understanding the potential and limitations of AI tools (communication support, analysis, etc.), participants will practice dialogue methods that build trust both online and offline. Drawing on knowledge of community management where diverse values intersect, participants will learn how to foster team and organizational cultures where AI and people work together.

Module 3: Essential Questions and AI Ethics: Gaining Insight into the Future and Creating Meaning

This course develops the ability to ask "essential questions" to understand the true impact of AI advancements and envision the ideal state of business and society. Students will discuss ethical issues and potential risks in implementing AI, and deeply consider "why AI should be used" in light of their own company's and their own life . Students will acquire a way of thinking that goes beyond superficial problem-solving to create meaningful change.

Module 4: Quiet Leadership and Practice - Leading with AI

Leadership is not just about strong charisma. Building on self-understanding (Module 1), empathy for others (Module 2), and insight into the true essence (Module 3), you will practice "quiet leadership" that engages those around you and encourages self-sustaining growth. You will learn specific methodologies and mindsets for flexibly promoting transformational projects, such as the introduction of AI, while also considering the human aspects (well-being, psychological safety).

Insight Navigator

AILIA Academy programs are not simply taught by instructors, but are led by experienced escorts called "Insight Navigators." They not only impart knowledge, but also listen to the inner voice of each participant and support essential awareness and transformation.

Representative of enmono Co., Ltd.

Joined Fujitsu Limited. After earning a master's degree in policy and media from Keio University, he went on to a doctoral course, served as an IT venture officer, and was restructured due to business deterioration. I started zazen every morning to recover from the shock. Started offering "zenschool", an innovation management method that utilizes mindfulness, based on the experience of meditation for one's own mental care and ideas for new businesses through zazen. Reported in "The Dawn of Gaia" in January 2016. In September 2017, he presided over "Zen 2.0", Japan's first international mindfulness conference, at Kenchoji Temple in Kita-Kamakura, and received high praise from domestic and foreign speakers. Held for five consecutive years, it has grown to become the world's largest international conference on Zen and mindfulness. We are working to make Kamakura a mindful city where Zen and IT are fused.
